We are going to be getting new jobs in class and I will not be doing any more blogs, but there will be a new blogger! Also, to continue we are progressing in classroom dojo! We are going to be using a sheet called Tracking Data that will let us know how we are behaving in class. We are having a food drive and i hope everybody gets a chance to send a bunch of can foods! Make sure we are keeping up with our Xtramath for multiplication facts and if ever you get a chance please do practice them! That also includes spelling practice keep it up!

                                                                                                  Later,

Remember all parents you must check out classroom dojo to see how your child is behaving! Next, we are still doing math and reading groups make sure your making your child practice there spelling words every night! Xtramath is great to keep practicing at home as well as school. When your child completes the Xtramath grid they will move onto division. Keep on working on those R.A.K.Y reflections for Superbowl Competition! Mrs.K will recommend putting all reflections in paragraph form!

                                             Later,

What's Up With the Weather??

Students have been researching the weather in our latest unit of Science.  They have learned about what causes weather, instruments used to measure weather, weather maps and symbols, and how meteorologists predict weather using their schema, instruments, and weather patterns.  Students we asked to watch a few meteorologist and investigate how they give a weather report.  They then came up with a report of their own and recorded their forecast using Tellagami.  This link is to our weather Padlet page, where students have uploaded their forecasts.  Please check it out and feel free to leave them a comment.

Padlet Page for Read Across Kentucky Superbowl Challenge

I would love for students to post a picture or video of themselves after they finish a book for the challenge.  They can do a picture with the book they finished or they can do a video recommending the book.  If the book scored them a touchdown, pictures or videos of a touchdown dance would be awesome!

https://padlet.com/Carriekap/x4yd55sf2izi

Just click on the link below and double tap anywhere on the page.  Type in their name and the book they read, then hit the upload button.  It's really easy to do from whatever device you used to take the pic or make the video.

Parents, Sign Up

Parents,
Recently many things have been coming home that require you to go online and sign up your students.  I urge you to please do this if you have access to technology at home.

Classroom Dojo
I have sent home and invited parents by email to sign up for Classroom Dojo.  This is a great website and app that allows you to get information about your child's behavior in school.  I also use it to let you know about your child's Read Across Kentucky information and missing assignments.  Please sign up so we can keep the communication open.

Xtra Math
As a grade level, we are using Xtra Math to make sure that your child continues to practice and improve their fact fluency.  Fact fluency is extremely important in 4th grade.  We will be learning to multiply by 2 digits and doing long division this year, so fact fluency is very important.  Students will have access to this website and app at school, if they don't at home.  It is more manageable though if more students are doing it at home.  So please sign up!
Edmodo
Students have been using Edmodo a lot in our classroom, especially for science and social studies.  I will be sending home a paper that lets you as parents sign up and be able to see what your child has been posting on this educational site.

Raz-Kids
Students who have me for reading, will be receiving information about their Raz-kids account.  I would like them to be able to access this at home using our login and their passwords.  Again this can be used on the website or an app.

Conferences
Last, you will be receiving a conference sign up sheet this week.  Please look it over and choose your 1st, 2ns, and 3rd option for conferences.  I would like to have these papers back by Monday, November 16th.

Thank you if you have been signing your child up already and if you take the time to do these things soon.
Ms. K

Read Across Kentucky SUPER BOWL

RA KY Reading Super Bowl

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?

Alright parents and kiddos, it’s time to step up the competition and reading in our classroom.  Throughout the year I have friendly competitions to see who can complete their reading reflections.  Since the upcoming months will start to get hectic with holidays and excitement, I think we are going to start our first competition early.  It will start Monday, Nov 10th and run through the Super Bowl in February.

How do you score??

First, everyone is starting with 0 points.

Every time you turn in a reflection you can earn 25 yards on our football field.  So, if you turn in 4 reflections you will score a touchdown!! 7 Points

Also, if you happen to finish a region, you will earn a field goal.  3 points (so those who have been working hard up until now, have an advantage here)

What do you win??

At the end of our competition, whoever has the highest score will win.  All students will come up with their own list of possible rewards that I will pick from.  If more than one student wins, even better!!!

The goal of this competition is just to get students to start completing their reflections.  If you have any questions, contact me at www.carrie.kapfhammer@oldham.kyschools.us.
