Read Across America

Since I have not had much class participation in the latest reading challenge, I've decided that only students who particpate will get a chance to have pizza and a movie with three friends. Unless your entire class participates. I have extended the challenge until the end of this week due to snow days, so get those book marks turned in. Right now the leader is Emma DeBurger with 13 book marks.

  1. This is for my read across America map I have to post a blog:
I can't believe I'm in the lead. Reading across America has really been good for me because I don't really like to read and I still don't really, but I have gotten better. This really does help me expand in what I read. I used to always read scary stories and books with lots of pictures. Now you have us reading mystery novels and authors like Gary Paulsen.
All I am saying is this may be the best thing that has helped me in language arts

  2. I like the bookmarks because they give me ideas of what GOOD books to read for class at home and anywhere.

  3. This challenge has helped me alot in reading because I'm used to only reading 20 min. a night. But now I have challenged myself to read more so I can finish my books and make bookmarks. (To beat Emma!! Just kidding!)

  4. Read acoss america is a very intresting way of getting kids to read. It helps them because it seems kind of fun when you get to fill in a new state. It also gives you a feeling of accomplishment that you finshed this great book (great or not) and your filling in a whole state. It is suprizing because i did not think I'd do very well in this, but, im not doing TOO bad!
I also think it's petty funny when we have a map check and everyone is scrambing to get states filled in on your map! There's so much freaking out during the week of a map check due to peope not geeting states filled in anyway, and the, them trying to cram as much reading into their day as fast as they can to fill in a few states!!!!
