So, after learning about verbs in class, doing the superhero activity, completing the verb review, and the Flip a Chip activity what have you learned about verbs and verb tenses? How will this learning help you in the future in reading and writing? Please be specific.
My new learning after the verb review anf Flip a Chip activity was what an irregular verb is (verbs that don't follow 'patterns'), what a past participle is (used with a past tense of a helping verb), and how to put different kinds a verbs into certain sentences. Knowing this in my future reading and writing will help myself and other people by making what you are reading or writing make sense. It also helps them use correct sentence usage.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 12k. I also learned what 'irreguler verbs' are. I also learned what past partisaples are. I knew how to make verbs different tenses before these activities, but the verb review activity informed me of the proper name for this term: verb tenses.
ReplyDeleteThis will help me in future reading and writing by allowing me to notise helping and linking verbs easier. Also, I will be able to reconise past particaples, allowing me to be able to brake down sentenses more spacificly, and understand the sentenses better. This will help me think deeper.
I already knew what kind of verbs there are, like linking verbs, helping verbs and action verbs. But I never knew how to change verbs into verb tenses. (past, present and future) I actually didn't know you could change a verb to a verb tense. It will help me with writing in the future by making my writing stronger. It will also make my writing more understandable because when you use verbs in your writing it's clearer. Verb tenses will help me be a better reader because I can now know if they're talking about the present, future or past.
ReplyDeleteI realized that if you don't put a verb into a sentence it is boring or may be cousing at times. I learned that verb tences is something that refers to something that is happenning in the past , present or the furture while adding suffixes. It will help me in the furture so that I put verbs into to a sentence so that it won't be boring or cousing also , it will help me in the furture so that i can hook my reader so they will keep on reading.
ReplyDeleteMy new learning after all the verb learning was that there is more than just one kind of verb there is an action verb, an linking verb, and a helping verb. I also learned how to put those kinds of verbs in the right sentences. This will help me by knowing when and how to put a verb in the correct sentence. Also it will help me become a better writer because when you use verbs in a story it usually lights it up and makes it more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what verb tenses were, but now I do. They are verbs made out of past, present and future. Also I know how to change verbs into verb tenses. In the future it will help me be a better reader because I will know if the part of the story is in the past, present or future. In the future it will help me be a better writer because I could show if its in the past, present or future and make it understandable.
ReplyDeleteI have learned that verbs are words that show action. When I use verbs with a past tense, for example bolted and bolting, those are action verbs that can change where it is used in a sentence. By knowing how to use verbs and verb tenses, I can write a better paper using action words correctly to make it more interesting for the reader.
ReplyDelete1. I have learned after all the Flip a Chip activitys and verb reviews was what a past participle was. A past participle is used with a past tense of a helping verb. I have also learned what a irregular verb is. A irregular verb is when verbs don't follow in a pattern. I have also learned many types of verbs like Linking verb, Helping verb, and Action verb. One last thing is that now i know all these things i can use all these verbs and idenfiy them all correctly.
ReplyDelete2. My learning will help me in the future with reading and writing by helping with a job. If i wanted to be a journalist or writer then i would to have good writing skills. It would also help me with my skills for personal narritives or narrtivie arcticle. This would help me because it would make me see the readers piont of view so that i could write better!
I have learned linkibg verbs, main verbs, helping verbs, and irregular verbs. I have also learned that a sentence always has some sort of verb in the sentence.
ReplyDeleteThe verbs will help me right more thoughtful sentences and verbs will help me with understanding stories and writing sentences. Because the verbs can help me write stories if I was going to write in a newspaper or A story book, verbs would help me write sentences that are flowing not choppy! Also verbs could help me with reading from the writers purpose.
I have learned that verbs are words that show action like batting or batted or have(batted). Also if you dont put a verb in a sentence it will sound boring and sound like a dull sentence. Also verb tenses is something that happend in the past like I just batted. Present is something that is now and its going on right now to you like im batting. This will help me in the future when im reading so I can understand if its before, after, or going on right now. It will help me in writing so I know what word to put like if I was batting I wouldent put batting I would put I have batted.
ReplyDeleteSome things I have learned about verbs are:that they have tenses (past, present, future)and they don't only describe actions. There are helping, linking, and action verbs. This learning will help me in writing because my sentences will always be complete and my writing will always make sense. That is something that verbs do. Every complete sentence has one. Writing would not make sense wiith out complete sentences.
ReplyDeleteAfter learning about verbs in class, doing the superhero activity, completing the verb review, and doing the "Flip a Chip" activity, I think that I have learned the correct way to use a verb. What I mean is that there are other verbs than just action verbs and so that gives me a better way to use my verbs now that I know how to use all three of the kinds of verbs. I also think that I have become better with identifying verbs in sentences. I think that I used to always search for the action verb and not realize that helping verbs and linking verbs were also important. Now, since I know that the 3 types of verbes are: 1. Helping 2. Linking 3. Action, I can figure out the verbs in the sentences better... I also think that in the future, verbs and verb tenses will help me to read and write in the future because I now know the correct and incorrect way to use them. My sentence structure will get stronger by knowing how to include a helping, linking, or action verb {or both} into my work. If I was a famous writer and I didn't know how to include helping, linking, or action verbs in my books or whatever I was writing, I would have a hard time getting people to read whatever I wrote because it wasn't a strong piece without the helping linking or action verbs.
ReplyDeleteI have learned a lot about action verbs, linking verbs, and helping verbs. Action verbs show action like running, walking, or jogging. Linking verbs link different parts of a sentence together like be, is, was, or were. Helping verbs support the main verb in some sentences. I learned about verb tenses last year but I forgot it over the summer so I am happy to relearn it. Knowing about verbs will help me in the future in my writing. When I write my personal narrative I will use different types of verbs and verb tenses and I may have to identify what type of verbs I am using. This learning will also help me in the future as I read. It will help me understand when events in the book have happened, are happening, or will happen.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I learnd is that there other types of verbs I thought there was just one verb and thats a action verb. I did not know that there other types of verbs like main, linking, tence, and helping. It would help me by making complet sentences because you need a thing that the subject is doing and thats a action verb. It would help me with another thing like were verbs are in my sentence like in our super hero.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have learned on the verb review and flip a chip activity is that verb tenses are the past, present, and future. This will help me in the future on reading and writing by helping me know to say; My mom will drive me to the dentist.Instead of saying; my mom driven me to the dentist. I know I should write it the first way because it is going to happen in the future. This will help me when reading by letting me understand what I am reading.I have also learned that a irregular verb is when verbs do not follow in a pattern. Finally, these activities helped me better understand what helping verbs, and linking verbs are.
ReplyDeleteDoing all of these activities has tought me what a verb is. A verb is like a action word, like ran, showed or pulled. A verb tenses is a verb that discribes somthing that is during or after the moment.Like (I RAN yesterday).
ReplyDeleteThese activities will help me in life when i am writing, because when i have more detail and exiting words in my writing they will want to read it. It will be exiting! If i were to be a teacher when i grow i will need to teach my students the diffrence between a verb and a verb tense. Also if i write letters back to parents i will have to tell them what the child did and use a verb, so i will have to know what a verb is!
After doing "Flip a Chip" and the verb review I learned the difference between a past, present and future verb.Let's say we had the sentence I am going to school. The word am would be present. If we changed the sentence to be future,it would be, I will be going to school. My new learning would help me form better sentences. Also, it would help anyone reading my work, to understand it.
ReplyDelete1. I learned that verbs are action words and when you add ed to a verb it is a verb tense thats when you have done something already like: I am crying turns into I cried.
ReplyDelete2. learning about verbs, in the future will help me with writing because I can identify the past tense verbs and regular verbs making me a better writer because I will know what to write on my paper.
Also, learning verbs will help me with my reading because it can help me understand the book better like if it said she was running I would know that is what the girl was doing not what she had already done
1.One thing I learned was what a future tence is .It is part of a verb that tells you that an event has not happend yet.I also learned what a irregular verb is . It is a verb that does not follow in a pattern. There are many types of verbs some are linking verbs ,helping verbs and one is an irregular verb.
ReplyDelete2.This activitie will help me practice using verbs more often and making them stronger to make my writing stonger. It will help me become a beter reader because if I help somebody with their piece I could help them get sronger verbs. To help them have a stronger verb.

ReplyDeleteI have learned that when i did the flip a chip it help me understand the sentence better because when i put the verb in it made sence. How it going to help me in real life, because when i start working on my narrtive article it will help identify my own sentence when i'm writing .Also when the past tense persent and furture . Reading it will help me when it says"I went to the store ." I know that is past becasue the word went.
I learned that there are different types of verbs like helping verbs, action verbs, and linking verbs. Now I know that am is past tense for was and will be is future tense. Knowing verbs will help me in writing by letting me use action verbs and making sure I have linking verbs in my sentences. This will help my reader to visualize my stories better. Verbs will help me better understand what I read, especially with verb tenses. I will know when things are occuring for example; the author wouldn't have to say that his grandpa told him the story before, I would be able to figure that out by the verb tenses he uses.
ReplyDeleteWhat I learned during these activities were, what a past participle was. This will help my future reading and writing because, when I'm writing my personal narritive I will need to use past participles in my story so my readers will figure out more easily if my story is located in the past, present or future. This will help my reading because, I will be able to figure out if the story takes place in the past, present, or future.
ReplyDeleteI learned that the past tense of a verb and the past participle are spelled differently. I also learned that the past participle has a helping verb within it. For example the past tense of throw is threw, but the past participle is have thrown. In have thrown, have is the helping verb. What I have learned will help me with reading in the future, because if the word "past participle" came up I would know the correct meaning. In future writing it will help me use correct grammar.
ReplyDeleteIn the Superhero, "Flip a Chip" activity, and the verb review I understand that there is more then one verb like the action verb. There is also the linking verb and the helping verb. Now as you all know a action verb is what the subject of the sentence is doing right then such as run, climb, jump, and walk. What a linking verb does to help a sentence is that it links two choppy sentences to make one whole complete sentence. One example of this is " My dog is very fuzzy. His fur color is brown." See, if you put a linking verb you can make a much more fluent sentence. Here it is with the linking verb now in it " My dog is very fuzzy, and his fur color is brown. Another type of verb would be a helping verb. A helping verb is a verb that connects the subjects to the predicates together. Some example of a helping verb would be shall, been, do, does ,did, have, and should. This would help me with my reading and writing by being able to write or read complete sentences. This would help me in my writing like my piece The Third-Floor Bedroom by adding linking, helping, and action verbs to make my sentences more fluent and descriptive. This would be a great strategy to my writing because if I was expected to write and On-Demand I would have to make it enjoyable to read and put in good sentence structure. I would also use it in my reading so that I could understand and comprehend what exactly I am reading. I also think that it would help my reading because of the reading assignments that teachers have you do to check your sentence fluency and using the linking, helping, and the action verbs would help with that a lot. Those are the reasons why I think that the 3 verbs linking, helping, and action would help me with my reading and writing during and after school.
ReplyDeleteMy new learning after doing the activitys were what a irreguar verb is a verb that doesnt follow a patteren giving me the deffenion of the type of verb which helped me know more about it.Learning about this type of verb will help me in the future because understanding the verb will improve my writing just like a linking verb did a example of the type of linking verb that helped me was,i wanted to go sledding but instead i went skiing. If you noticed the linking verb was but this helps me in the future so i can link a linking verb in a sentence that does not sound right.
